Ululations, Asikaa.

Howls to you, Utlah. :)

As you seem to be the only UK helpstaffer around, I thought it would be best if I asked you about this first, before posting to the newsgroup. Has there, at any time, been a Howl in the UK, are there any plans for one, and if not, why not????

Firstly, I'm not a HelpStaffer anymore, because the HelpStaff was disbanded about a month ago...

In answer to your questions; There was an attempt to organize a Howl in the UK sometime around March '95. I was not involved, and as far as I know the Howl never actually took place. The reasons for this are many, but the main one was that there are not many weres in the UK that are online. There are plenty of Furries, but they are not all true weres. Another reason is that the UK isn't really as well suited to a Howl as some parts of NA. There is no true wilderness, and too many anti-gathering laws to spoil the fun.

It seems that the Howls in the US are very succesful, and great fun for everyone involved. I'd be interested in trying to get one started on this side of the pond, with your approval of course.

You don't need to ask my approval! I'm not the UK alpha! :)

so it would all depend on how much interest there is in having a UK howl.

Well, judging by the last attempt, the response would probably be fairly limited.

Like I said, I thought I'd better talk to you first and see what you thought before going any further.

I'm sorry that it might not be what you wanted to hear... But don't let me put you off. If you still feel that you want to try to put on a UK Howl, then I wish you the best of luck.

Happy New Year, BTW.
