Alternatively, lets have a game of chicken... What is a Howl:A Howl is a gathering of members from the newsgroup alt.horror.werewolves. At these meetings, pack members interact and enjoy each other's understanding company. There are therianthropic discussions, bonfires, nature walks and just general socialising. Most of the Howls are held in the States, since that's where most of the pack members reside, but occasionally the European pack members get together in what have been named "EuroHowls". EuroHowl'97 History:So far there have been two Howls in Europe, EuroHowls '96 and '97. EuroHowl'97 is the second and most recent Howl to be held. Both howls were organized by Utlah. First of all, the Howl mailing list was set up. Again, Farthing Fox provided a Major-domo mail server to use for the mailing list. Emailing around, various pack members were asked if they wanted to come. This year, the initial results were a lot better than the four replies for EuroHowl'96. Most of last year's attendees wanted to come, along with a few newcomers to the group. With a few prospective "Howlers" in tow, the search for accommodation began in earnest. (Well, it actually started in Warwick, but that's a moot point! [grin]) The search began at the beginning of the year, and after a few months of hunting around there had been no luck. So it was time to revert to plan "B", and hold the Howl at Aberystwyth again.
Originally the Howl was set to be held in July, but people were finding July awkward and the accommodation turned out to be unavailable at this time. So we were faced with either cancellation or another date. So the Howl moved dates and was set to be held in August when more people found it convenient, and the accommodation was once again available. A signed certificate was to be produced, so that the Howlers had something personal to take back with them. The after asking around for artwork, I came across a campfire drawing by Andre Heinonen on his FurNation website. It was perfect, and with his permission it became part of the EuroHowl Certificate.
Eventually the time drew near, and the transportation was organized. The Howl was finally ready to start... Howl Reports:Select a report: Utlah's Report.
