Personal Therianthropy:

Growing up, I was never a loner. I was athletic, so I was friends
with that crowd, and I was somewhat intelligent(hope I spelled that right),
so I fit in with that crowd. I liked any type of music and ate any type of
food(too much of it in one point of my life). I could basically blend in
any crowd...but that was just it...I would only blend in. I was never the
leader of any particular group, but I was always considered one of the
group...many groups. But I still knew there was something different about
me, something that separated me from all the groups, something someone else
had to share. And until stumbling onto AHWw, my search had been in vain.

I guess it all started when I was about 6. At that time, I would have
a recurring dream...I was walking home from my friends house late at night.
I passed over the bridge and I would hear a noise from behind a bush. I went
to the bush to see what it was, and there was a huge injured werewolf(anthro,
The Howling style). I wasnt afraid of him, and took him to my house to help
him. I patched him up and he promised he would always protect me, no matter
what. This same dream came up many times when I was young, but eventually
faded out.

A few years later I had reemerging thoughts about changing myself into a
werewolf, and would actually do this before any athletic endeavor I faced.
This lasted from when I was 9 to about 12. Now, I had always had a deep
fascination with wolves, but it wasnt untill I was around 14 or 15 that I
had a dream including a real wolf. It was much like my childhood dream with
the exception that it was the true wolf that promised to protect me, and
not a werewolf. Now, instead of trying to change into an anthro-werewolf
before a game, I imagine the wolfs strength growing inside of me.

My love for the wolf was set in stone one night while I was at a
highschool party. The house was on the water of a lake, and there was a
long pier. It was such a beautiful night, The sky was split in half...
on one side there was a distant thunderstorm, and I could see the lightning
jumping to the ground and from cloud to cloud...the other side was a full moon.
I was alone on the pier, everyone else was sleeping, and had lots of time
to think about my life, and wolves. It was all that I could think about.
After about an hour of soul searching, I reached the conclusion that my
life would not be complete without making wolves a major part of my life.
I stood up, and howled long and true(at 4 am). I did this for about 10
minutes, got all the dogs in the neighborhood quite upset at me...and
Im still not sure if anyone knew what I had done. It was a night I will
never forget. If I only had a camera, Id show you all how immaculate
that night was!

After realizing how deep my love of wolves really was, I decided I
wanted to be a veterinarian with the sole purpose of helping wolves. I
worked at a vets office, and quickly became disillusioned by the arrogance
of the doctors. I decided to just read up on wolves myself in highschool,
and perhaps study them in the wild. Now in my senior year of college,
I dont know if I could do that. Studying wild wolves requires a subjective
opinion with no biases...I am extremely biased. I figured my best bet
may be in rehabilitation and reintroduction, so I am volunteering at a
center that gives me experience in the field...plus vet school is not
entirely out.

As of recently, I have been exploring my therianthropy through dreams
and meditation, although the meditation is coming along more slowly. Ive
always had doubts as to whether or not I should continue this lifestyle of
worship to the wolf, but then that same night, Ill have a dream and realize
I couldnt live without him. I become quite emotional when I look at a certain
picture I have in my room...Its an 18x24 of a wolf head staring straight into
my eyes. I sit there and stare at it, talking to it in my head, asking him
questions..Why am I here...Will I find you? Sometimes Ill weep when I think
about him and how beautiful he is, how it must feel to touch him, have his
breath warm my skin. My desire to become him is almost overwhelming me now,
and I sometimes become envious that I am not...going into periods of slight
depression. But then I will flip through my books of wolf pictures and realize
that I could never admire him so much if I were him physically...so I try to
emulate his ways behaviorally, I let him teach me. I let my dreams do the rest.

'Is all of this merely coincidence, or were the explorations of the
human race carried on the backs of wolves?'
                                     -Brandenburg
