Howlie's Werecard

From: Howlie@webtv.net (Howlie)

Name: Mark (a.k.a Kit Sinclair)
Were name: Howlie
Phenotype: Wolf
Birthdate: 2/25/76
Birthplace: Dunoon, Scotland (Hometown of Sylvestor McCoy :))

Zodiac Sign (Traditional): Pisces
Zodiac Sign (Native American): Wolf
Zodiac Sign (Chinese): Dragon Flying to Heaven

Home territory: Florida
Dream territory: I used to say the wild tundra of Alaska. Alaska is
stil somewhere I would love to go, but I would really love to just
travel around a lot at this point.

Physical Description: 5'6", 260 lbs, glasses, dark brown hair and eyes,
VanDyke beard brown at the mustache and turns red at the bottom

Physical description, were: Taller, nice build, usually see myself in an
anthro werewolf form rather than fully shifted, fur is grey, face is
friendly looking

Human career: Currently in retail sales, in college seeking a CIS degree

Hobbies/interests: Comics, sci-fi, wolves, animation/Disney, Doctor Who
is my main obsession, Trekkie also (I'm basically a geek)

Favorite movies: Star Trek films, Back to the Future trilogy, Kevin
Smith trilogy, Clue, Pulp Fiction and other Tarantino-type stuff, The
Usual Suspects, Seven, The Secret of NIMH, Twister, Lady and the Tramp,
101 Dalmations, GlenGarry/GlenRoss, The Mask of Zorro. There really are
so many good ones, there are much more that I love besides what's on the
tip of my mind right now.

Favorite were-movie: Wolf, I'll just pick the one here and say why.
Because I think Jack is a fantastic actor, and he plays a great
werewolf. Also, the depiction of the werewolf is not that it is a
curse, it benefits him in some ways. He doesn't turn completely into a
raving beast, he is subtly shifted even in his everyday life, using
keener senses and such. I know there is a lot of disagreement with
this, but I kinda like the 'less is more" approach to the make-up in
this film.

Favorite literature: I have a vast, vast collection of Doctor Who books,
other likes include: Jack London, Sherlock Holmes stories, Richard
Adams' Watership Down, Edgar Allen Poe

Favorite Were Literature: St. Peter's Wolf by Michael Cadnum is probably
my fave. Others I've liked include: several World of Darkness stories,
Traci Briery, Werewolves! collection of stories particularly Werehouse.

Favorite art: I love Vincent's Starry Night, other types of art I enjoy
would be comic artists like Joe Madureira, and a lot of movie posters
and animation

Favorite were-art: The paintings in Stephen King's Cycle of the
Werewolf, some of the Rage card game art, online artists like Nakira,
and whoever did the art for the comic Werewolf by Night vol. 2

Favorite quote: I don't have ONE, I have a vast array of quotes from
various sources rattling around in my head and will use them in
converation whether they be 100% appropriate or not .

Favorite Were Saying/Quote, Favorite Personal Quote: Same as above on
these two. I don't think I have one fave I use more than the others so
let me come back to this. My current favourite is usually the one in my
sig, which changes from time to time.

General Music Taste: I wanted to add this little bit in before listing
any favourite bands. Basically I'm a very melow canid. I was born
about twenty years too late in my opinion. I like some of the current
bands, but my taste goes a little farther in the past generally. I like
a lot of lighter vocal music, some instrumentals. Below I"ll list some
of my favourites and one of the songs I think of as their best in no
particular order other than the order in which they come to mind.

Favorite Song/Band(s): Meat Loaf "Origonal Sin", Neil Diamond "Solitary
Man", Kenny Rogers "The Gambler", Loreena McKennit "The Highwayman", Tom
Petty "Don't Fade on Me", Bryan Adams "Heaven" and "Everything I do",
John Tesh "The Inn on Mt. Ada", Weird Al Yankovic "The Biggest Ball of
Twine in Minnesota", James Horner "Titanic sounctrack particularly "the
Portrait"", the Garoup Therapy cd {Thanks again Kat :) }, a gigantic ton
of 80's music in general, lots of movie soundtracks, George Michael
"Freedom 90", Duran Duran "Union of the Snake" and so so much more.

Favorite season: Winter
Favorite holidays: Christmas
Preferred prey: Steak
Hunting tips: Go to the Outback Steakhouse
Preferred method of attack: The 'ol knife 'n' fork
Favorite non-were mythological beast: Unicorn with Dragon a close second

*The next few sections pretty much describe a lot of my personal
feelings and beliefs, I"ve added a bit to the old format here because I
feel garrulous today.*

Feelings toward vampires: Neutral, depends on the person

Feelings toward normal humans: Same as above. I have loads of human
friends and am still human to a good extent myself. There are a lot of
good people out there if you meet them one on one, Of course their are a
lot of idiots too. My feelings on the race overall are different
however.

Feelings on human society and humanity: Ookay, this is the stuff
flamewars have been made of in the past. Let me say that these are my
opinions only, I"ve held them for many years longer than I knew I was a
were. I've always thought humanity pretty much sucked. I mean, the
total arrogance of thinking you're the best and that entitles you to do
whatever you want to the other critters on this planet. We're a lot
better off now than we were, but society still has a long way to go to
raise itself in my eyes. There have been some wonderful people and some
great creations, both technological and artistic, but I've always the
overall attitude of humanity as selfish and greedy.

Personal Lycanthropy: Best I can describe it is I have a little bit of
wolf in me. Or maybe a lot. :) My feelings on spirituality have
changed in the last couple years which makes this more difficult to
explain for me. Wolf is definately a totem animal for me, and a role
model of sorts. There are so many good qualities to be seen in wolves
that humans could try and aspire to. I believe in reancarnation so its
possible I"ve been a wolf at one point in the past or should've been
this time. I don't really know for sure, but I"ve always admired them,
and felt a kinship with them.

Feelings on Physical Shifting: This has always been a big thing in this
community, and I think I should go on record how I feel about it as I
never have before. My optimistic side thinks it is possible, but my
realistic side doesn't see it happening any time soon. I have a hard
time accepting unproven things like this on faith. Just because I like
a few George Michael tunes doesn't mean I gotta have faith Seems to
me this kind of goal is a little out of reach for most of us, so I've
chosen not to get too upset about it. Yeah, it would be pretty cool to
do, but I would never want to live in the woods forever anyway. I like
my life a lot the way it is now. Why make yourself genuinly depressed
over something that you can't change. So, this is not a big deal with
me. I do apologize to anyone who feels insulted by me because I don't
personally see the holy grail of Therianthropy as the most important
thing in my life, but this is just the way I am. This is what makes me
happy, and I"m a great proponent of everyone doing whatever makes them
happy as long as that doesn't detract from someone else's happiness.

Feelings on Spirituality: I posted an article to the group on this that
got a couple responses. Responses which were intelligent and thoughtful
I might add. I"m only restating this here as a matter of being complete
in this post. I never thought I had any spirituality, but it has been
pointed out that I may be just very in touch with myself on that level
already. I don't meditate or anything like that. I fully believe that
my spirit and I are one being. We may move from different bodies after
this one dies, but I feel we are one. I don't need to contact my spirit
via the astral plane or anything because for all intents and purposes
'its' already here and always will be. I don't need to find myself
because I know where I am, and I"m very comfortable with who and what I
am. I have a plan for the future so I know where I'm going, and that's
what is important to me.

Feelings on Religion: This kinda ties in to a lot of what I"ve already
stated. Much like p-shifting, I kinda believe some of it, but its
pretty far-fetched. I primarilly mean Christianity here since that's
what I was born as, and that's what I know. I think its a bit of a
crock actually. These great Christians, only being good so they can get
the 'reward' of heaven when they die. Sounds like a pretty selfish
idea to me. I have my own moral guidlines that I follow, and I believe
in doing the right thing just because its the right thing. I"m not
saying all religious people are bad, if you're beliefs make you happy
then that's a wonderful thing, but i"ve just met too many judgemental
wackos who have tainted my opinion of the whole thing. I don't know if
heaven or hell exists and I don't know where I'll go when I die. But,I
like to think I"m a good, decent person. And I"m being that way because
that's who I am. I may die and turn to dust and never been heard from
again, but that won't stop me doing the right things now.

These are all my opinions, this is me. :) Being a Piscean makes me a
contradiction in some ways. I"m a very cynical person with regards to a
lot of things including love and the goodness of my fellow man, but I'm
a very happy person. Emotionally, I'm usually up. Sure things could
always be better in my life, but I'm still very content and I look
forward to the future.

Sorry this went on so long, but I needed an update, for me. :) After
two years here, this is where I stand as person, and as a werewolf.
I"ve made a lot of friends here, I"ve met about 25 weres in real life
and I hope to keep meeting many more. Two years is a short and a long
amount of time depending on who you talk to. to the 'Greymuzzles' I must
be still a newbie, and to the newbies I'm one of the one's who's been
here awhile. Either way, I plan on being around for some time to come
because I like it here. No matter how messy it gets sometimes, I still
like it here.

Welcome again to any new weres I missed recently, and hi's to all my
packmates out there. I"m curling up by the fire and roasting a
marshmallow now. :-)
